Lunar and Planetary Laboratory
University of Arizona

James Lockridge is a researcher in the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory Space Imagery Center. He’ll share the scope of recent work there and how LPL is preparing to tell its own historic and panoramic story in this destination for the curious and science-inspired public. Established with NASA in 1977 as a repository of images and data from America’s earliest space exploration, it gave regional access to researchers — a critical step to enable science during the early Space Age. The LPL Space Imagery Center now recreates virtual worlds from the data gathered by LPL and others. Attracting students, tourists, scientists, and supporters, it’s a shared venue for gatherings and a showcase and celebration of UA’s space science success.
