Pandora, a Keen-eyed Satellite Built to Study Exoplanets, Takes Flight

LPL Professor Daniel Apai and his team helped lead the Pandora mission which will provide in-depth study of at least 20 known planets orbiting distant stars to determine the composition of their atmospheres – especially the presence of hazes, clouds and water.
NASA announced last week the research payloads selected for a deployment on a future NASA commercial lunar lander mission. The mission will include a 3D visible and infrared camera, Emission Imager for Lunar Infrared Analysis in 3D (EMILIA-3D) which will help scientists better image and navigate the Moon's surface.

The $9 million proposal was led by LPL Research Scientist Andy Ryan and LPL Photogrammetry Program Lead Sarah Sutton.

Kissing the Sun: LPL Researchers Unravel Mysteries of the Solar Wind

Using data collected by NASA's Parker Solar Probe during its closest approach to the sun, LPL Associate Professor Kris Klein and his research team measured the dynamics and ever-changing "shell" of hot gas from where the solar wind originates.
