LPL Newsletter

September 1, 2024

Welcome to September and the LPL newsletter! We invite you to mark your calendars for two September events that will feature our nearest celestial neighbor, the Moon.

On Sept. 14,  "lunatics" from around the world will participate in real and virtual events for International Observe the Moon Night. In Tucson, the Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium is hosting Science at Sunset, from 5:30 to 10:00p.m. on Sept. 14. Visit the Flandrau web site for details and event schedule, which includes a talk on the history of lunar research at LPL by PTYS graduate student Gabe Gowman.

On Sept. 18, LPL is proud to present Dr. Jessica Barnes speaking about New Insights from Old Lunar Samples. We hope you will join us either in-person or by Zoom webinar for what will be a fascinating lecture about Dr. Barnes' work with the Apollo Next-Generation Sample Analysis program
