A Weather Report for our Solar System and Beyond

Atmospheres in our Solar System exhibit remarkable diversity. Weather phenomena that we are familiar with on Earth, such as clouds, jet streams, and storms, are also present elsewhere in the Solar System, but typically display exceptional departure from the terrestrial ordinary. Features such as Jupiter's Great Red Spot, Martian dust devils, and Titan's liquid methane precipitation cycle are examples of this fascinating assortment. In this talk, I will examine the variety of atmospheric phenomena that occur throughout our Solar System, focusing on their atmospheric dynamics and meteorological characteristics. I will also discuss our automated technique for measuring winds within other planets through cloud tracking. Finally, the emerging science of extrasolar atmospheric studies has rapidly developed in recent years; I will briefly explore the latest observations and modeling results regarding these peculiar new worlds.
