LPL Colloquium: Recent Results on Mars from MRO/HiRISE

When

3:30 p.m., Sept. 2, 2008

Where

Professor Alfred McEwen (LPL) is the scheduled speaker.

Abstract:
The High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) on Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has acquired more than 7 Terapixels of Mars imaging since October 2006. These data, especially meter-scale digital elevation models, have led to new results on slope processes (gullies and avalanches), periodic layering in polar and equatorial regions, impact cratering, flood volcanism, fans in crater lakes, glacial and periglacial processes, eolian and seasonal processes, Noachian bedrock stratigraphy, and groundwater interactions.
