Barnstorming the Moon

When

3:45 p.m., April 18, 2023

Where

Dr. Mark Robinson
Professor
School Of Earth and Space Exploration
Arizona State University

Mark Robinson's research interests are currently focused on the origin and evolution of planetary crusts, including volcanism, tectonism, and regolith development. His investigations are approached using a variety of remote sensing techniques. He has served on four NASA mission science teams (Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous, CONTOUR, Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, MESSENGER), the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter, and the upcoming Intuitive Machines IM-1 and IM-2 missions. Much of his current research efforts focus on expanding our knowledge of the lunar surface, paving the way for future human and robotic exploration of the Moon.

Much is happening now and will happen at the Moon over the next decade. Mark will present an overview of imaging results from the ongoing LROC investigation, the just-started ShadowCam investigation and preview the almost-ready S.P. Hopper investigation.

Host: Dr. Alfred McEwen
