The Atacama Large Millimeter Array and the James Webb Space Telescope are cutting-edge observatories that provide complementary information on the birth sites of planets. In this talk, I will present recent discoveries from these facilities that are reshaping our understanding of protoplanetary disk evolution and of the volatile content in the terrestrial planet-forming region.  I will also explore the broader implications of these findings for both Solar System and exoplanet studies and highlight key observations and theoretical advances needed to drive further progress in the field.
