Martian Meteorites: Windows into the Martian Interior and Volcanism
Rovers and orbiters have allowed us to better understand Mars’ surficial and other geological processes. However, martian meteorites, our only samples from the planet, can help us to constrain magmatic processes that have occurred inside Mars. Although only 113 of such meteorites have been recovered, petrologic analyses have enabled us to start to unmask the processes, which have shaped the martian crust and mantle over martian history.
