Experiments in scanning fossils!
These experiments were HIGHLY successful. All the images here were
done with a $30 flatbed scanner, nothing else! With a little practice
one can easily spend a whole day exploring one rock slab in minute
detail! The trick was to select small areas in the scanning software
and then use the highest resolution. By keeping the image small it
kept the memory from overloading.

More fusilinid limestone from Pakistan showing fusulinids in every
orientation.
More limestone from Pakistan here showing the crossection of a gastropod. Note the scale. The smallest objects visible in the original image were less than 0.1mm!
